The boxes that end up in Paget workshops
Paget is where the Bowen Basin gets its parts, hoses, tyres and labour. The workshops along that estate order lockable steel the way other businesses order shelving, and the requirement changes the week a new maintenance contract lands.
Tool cribs, parts, and a contract that just grew
Drive the estate and the names are hydraulics, fabrication, tyres, electrical, hose and fittings, plus the depots that send crews west on roster change. The building is almost always smaller than the work. A tool crib beside a roller door, a parts store for a contract won last month, a lockup that doubles as a fence with shade between two units: that is the ordinary Paget order.
Gear is also staged here before it goes to a lease. A unit that will live on site, rather than in the yard, needs the grade and the paperwork the site will actually inspect. Say so at the start. If the shelves will hold fuel, oils, solvents or gas bottles, a standard box is the wrong object — a bunded, vented dangerous-goods unit matched to the class is what an auditor expects to find.
Hardstand until the back corner
Industrial blocks are built for trucks, so most landings here are dull in the best way: wide gates, compacted ground, room to swing. The failures are local. Stock and plant have to be shuffled before there is a pad. A gate that opens inward across the only straight line. An awning or a gantry along the wall where someone wanted the doors.
The other Paget habit is a firm front and a soft, poorly drained strip at the rear, and the rear is exactly where the container is wanted. After a dump of rain that strip will bog a loaded truck. Mention it. Shared gates matter too — if another tenant has semis booked that morning, the driver needs to know before he is blocking them.
The trucks come down from The Leap
Containers for these streets are loaded at The Leap and brought in through town to the estate. There is no published street number for a cold visit: ring, and the desk will stand a unit out or send the serial photographs before the truck leaves. Desk hours are weekdays 7:30am–5pm and Saturday 8am–12pm.
Paget itself is 4740, as are Ooralea, Bakers Creek, Racecourse, Te Kowai, Erakala and the airport side of town. A forty-footer earns its keep here because the floor is cheap and the yards can take a sidelifter. Where people will stand up inside — racking, a bench, a small office — extra headroom is the point of a high cube.
When the order is several units, decide the row before the truck is in the gate. The first box down should be the one that will not have to shuffle when the next arrives, and a later sidelifter still needs a path along the hardstand. Weekday mornings in the estate belong to other people's semis as well as ours, so name a window that does not collide with your own inbound freight.
A unit you intend to send west later should be nominated while it is still at The Leap. Shelving is simple. Cutting openings is not, if a lease will reject the cut. Heat is the other early decision: a crib that will bake in January wants shade or insulation planned before the lining goes in, which is what the note linked under the questions is for.

Can a forty-footer be set down on a Paget industrial block?
In most of them, yes. The sidelifter wants roughly thirty metres of clear working room beside the truck and firm ground under the stabilisers. Describe the yard and the truck is confirmed before you commit.
Do workshops here get dangerous-goods containers?
Yes, vented and bunded, for fuels, oils, chemicals and gas bottles. Name the class and the quantity. The wrong unit is an audit finding, not a thing you send back quietly.
Hire or buy when the work is a fixed contract?
A contract with an end date usually suits hire, so the box leaves when the work does. A store you will modify, or one you will still want in three years, is a purchase. Both figures can be put side by side.
