Upper Pioneer Valley
Past Mirani the valley narrows and the range starts
Mirani is the town of the upper Pioneer, and beyond it the country tightens toward Gargett, Finch Hatton and the foot of Eungella. Cane and cattle, with lifestyle blocks threaded through. People here want storage that is strong, locks, and does not wait on a builder.
Feed, fencing, and a substitute for a garage
On the cane farms a container keeps hay and feed out of the rain and away from rats, holds parts, and gives chemicals a place that is not the back verandah. Cattle places use one for fencing gear, vet supplies and saddlery. Lifestyle blocks treat it as the garage they did not build: ride-on, tools, camping kit. A little demand also comes from stays up toward Finch Hatton Gorge, where a small operator wants maintenance gear on the property rather than in town.
Mirani and Septimus are 4754. Gargett and Pinnacle are 4741. Finch Hatton and Netherdale are 4756. Eungella and Eungella Dam are 4757. Kinchant Dam, back toward the lower valley, is 4741.
A level floor, then a steep road
Around the town itself the valley floor is level, and a dry-day drop is often quick: wide gate, firm track, room to swing. Watch ground near creeks and irrigation, and watch the cane. In the growing months it closes to the edge of a farm track and limits how far a truck can turn.
Further up, driveways steepen, bends tighten, and creek crossings appear. The road up the Eungella range is steep and winding. A container going up there needs an honest talk about which truck can do it, and some pads on the range are better served by a shorter unit or a crane. We would rather say that in Mackay than attempt it and turn around. Low country near the dam and the creeks floods; pick a spot above water you have actually seen lying there.
Loaded for the upper valley at The Leap
The upper valley draws from The Leap, same as the city. If the track looks doubtful, the argument happens there, with photos, before anyone is committed to a grid past Gargett. You can inspect in person or take the serial pictures.
Small square bales store well in a forty-footer if the unit is sound and up on pads. Round bales need measuring against the door opening first — the dimensions page has the figures — and the stack wants air around it, because a shut steel box holds humidity. Parts usually live in a twenty with shelving down one side. A ten-footer is the awkward expensive one: it fits a gap, and it costs more than a twenty because it is cut down and rebuilt. Fencing wire can live in a cheaper as-is unit, which is sold as seen and is not sold weather-tight. Feed cannot. That distinction is the whole of the grade choice.
Cattle places past Pinnacle often want the box at the yards, not at the house. That can mean a second gate and ground the cattle have chewed soft. Say which pad. A shell parked among machines will collect knocks; better to have seen the dents in the photographs than to discover them beside the crush.
Stays toward Finch Hatton Gorge are smaller orders, usually a twenty for mowers and linen, on a drive that is fine until the last bend. A picture of that bend beats a description of the gorge.

Will you take a container up the Eungella range?
Sometimes, depending on the property. The road is steep and winding, so truck and length are judged case by case. Some pads suit a shorter unit or a crane, and we will say so.
Does hay keep inside one?
In a cargo-worthy unit, sited up off the ground, yes. Leave airflow around the stack, and measure the bales against the door before you buy the length.
Gargett and Finch Hatton too?
Yes. Valley-floor places are straightforward in the dry. Steep sections and creek crossings need pictures before the truck is chosen.
